Schools embrace healthful meals, beyond USDA rules

Some San Francisco Bay Area school districts plan to go beyond the USDA's health guidelines for lunch, which must include whole grains and eliminate chocolate milk, among other changes, starting July 1. "We have to look at helping young people develop patterns in their lives that will support a healthy lifestyle," said Rami Muth, superintendent of the Martinez Unified School District, which is planning an organic garden and cooking classes.
