Understanding dog food labels

University of Minnesota clinical veterinary nutritionist Julie Churchill explains that pet food bags have a statement by the Association of American Feed Control Officials. If the food has been "formulated," it has been chemically analyzed for nutrient content, and if the food has undergone "animal feeding tests," it was actually fed to a group of dogs who were then studied for its effects over at least a six-month period.
