GE joins project to bring M2M to the operating room

Developers are adopting machine-to-machine technology to power robots that may one day provide a faster, easier way for surgeons to sterilize their instruments. GE Global Research and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs are spearheading the effort through a $2.5 million pilot project to design and test an automated system that uses radio-frequency identification to give robots the ability to identify specific instruments.
