House requires Yucca to be part of waste bill, Rep. Shimkus says

The House of Representatives won't pass a Senate bill addressing radioactive waste management that doesn't classify the Yucca Mountain project in Nevada as a permanent repository, said Rep. John Shimkus, R-Ill., at an event co-hosted by the Nuclear Energy Institute. Under the Nuclear Waste Policy Act, the site was named as the country's permanent storage location for the material, he said. "Read my lips -- Yucca Mountain is the law of the land," Shimkus said.
