After a disappointing month, U.S. economy adds 113,000 jobs

The U.S. economy added just 113,000 jobs in January, far below the 180,000 positions analysts had hoped for. Still, economists were hopeful that the weak showing might have been the result of brutal winter weather, rather than of systemic economic problems. "This does confirm that there's probably some degree of slowness out there, but I don't think it's catastrophic," said Brad McMillan, chief investment officer for Commonwealth Financial.
