House Republicans are working on a draft bill to reform the Toxic Substances Control Act and aim to finish by late February, according to this article. The bill is expected to address state pre-emption, confidential business information on chemicals and the prioritization of chemical reviews. Rep. John Shimkus, R-Ill., chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on the Environment and the Economy, hopes his subcommittee will approve the bill by mid-March and that the full Energy Committee will consider the bill "maybe late spring or early summer," he said.
