Iowa State University hires more full-time faculty

Iowa State University has bucked a national trend by hiring more full-time faculty and fewer staff between 2004 and 2012. During that time, the school has hired 41% more faculty per 1,000 students while decreasing the amount of part-time teachers and nonteaching staff. A new report reveals the opposite trend at most colleges and universities where administrative hiring has grown. "We're trying to run this operation with as few support people as we can do a good job with," ISU President Steven Leath said.
