Report: IBM may divest IC manufacturing business

IBM is considering selling its semiconductor manufacturing operations, now that the company plans to make fewer servers, The Wall Street Journal reports, citing a source with knowledge of the matter. IBM recently agreed to sell its low-end server business to Lenovo Group. Toni Sacconaghi of Sanford C. Bernstein said IBM is making fewer chips these days for external customers.
