Overbooking in the hotel industry is common practice, but when you have booked a reservation through an online travel site, it is their responsibility to book you at a comparable resort, says Travel Troubleshooter columnist Christopher Elliott. If you should be overbooked at a hotel and turned away, contact the online travel agent through which you made your reservations.
