Iowa anti-bullying bill protects gay students

An anti-bullying bill passed by the Iowa House includes explicit protections for students who identify themselves as being gay. Some legislators sought to pass anti-bullying legislation that offered blanket protection to all students, rather than enumerate protected groups. The Iowa Senate approved similar legislation Jan. 30, but the addition of amendments in the House mean the bill will now go back to the Senate.
