FAA underestimates cost of new ATC system, analysis says

An independent analysis has found the government has underestimated the amount of funding needed to establish and transition to a satellite-based air traffic control system. The analysis estimates the cost of developing new software for the system could be more than $50 billion. The FAA has said the new system would cost between $15 billion and $22 billion.
