FDA clears St. Jude trial of electrical-stimulation device for depression

St. Jude Medical has received an investigational-device exemption from the FDA to conduct a clinical trial for its libra deep-brain stimulation system designed to treat severe depression. Neuronetics and Northstar Neuroscience are also exploring electrical stimulation as a treatment for depression.
