Poll: Most Oklahomans want teachers to have higher salaries

In a new poll completed Jan. 30, 57% of Oklahoma residents said they'd rather see teacher pay increased than have their own state income taxes reduced. Additionally, 54% of the 757 likely voters surveyed said they'd prefer to have teacher salaries brought up to the regional average rather than implement a merit-pay system, compared to 38%, who expressed a preference for merit pay over raising base salaries.
