Allergan acquires biomaterial developer Serica Technologies

California's Allergan purchased the cosmetic and reconstructive surgery unit of Serica Technologies. The Massachusetts-based firm makes biomaterial for use in skin grafts and reconstruction surgery to fix tissue and ligaments. The deal calls for Serica to become Allergan's wholly owned unit but did not include its orthopedic or veterinary products, which are now a separate entity.
