Bipartisan Senate bill seeks 5-year extension of chemical-security rules

Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and three other members of the Senate's Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee unveiled legislation that aims to extend federal chemical-plant security regulations by five years. The proposed extension would allow a full implementation of Chemical Facilities Anti-Terrorism Standards developed by the Department of Homeland Security in 2007, said Collins, who is the primary sponsor of the bill.
