Coupons have been a cut above during recession

Coupon use increased last year for the first time in 17 years, spurred by a 92% increase in online coupon access. Internet distribution is hot, attracting some consumers who never used coupons before and with a predicted redemption rate of about 20%, according to one study. Companies view coupons as a way to "create brand loyalty once the economic dust settles," says Matthew Tilley of coupon processor Inmar.
