FDA approves wider use of AstraZeneca's Crestor

AstraZeneca obtained FDA approval to promote the use of cholesterol drug Crestor to prevent cardiovascular disease in patients with normal or moderately high cholesterol levels. AstraZeneca's application was supported by a study showing a 44% reduction in the number of cardiovascular events in Crestor recipients with a high C-reactive protein level after an average of nearly two years.
