The commercial real estate industry scored a number of policy wins on Capitol Hill and with the Obama administration last year, according to Dan Neidich, chairman of the Real Estate Roundtable and CEO of Dune Real Estate Partners. Congress has become more aware of the issues facing CRE, putting the Roundtable and its association partners such as NAREIT in a good position to continue its lobbying efforts, he adds. But there is still much work that has to be done, Neidich says. "We still have a long way to go in terms of solving issues -- such as the performance of properties, the lack of lending to SMBs and the fact that large segments of CRE have been redlined by banks in terms of lending," he said.
