Research looks at mechanism behind insulin regulation in the body

A study in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences found the presence of glucose in the blood activates the expression of a molecule called G protein-coupled free fatty acid receptor, which then signals the body to produce more insulin when glucose and fatty acid levels increase.
