Analysis proves Cold Train's efficiency versus truck transport

The use of Cold Train service to and from the Port of Quincy, Wash., contributes to fewer emissions than shipping products by long-haul trucks along the same route, according to a McKinstry study. The analysis supports previous findings of BNSF's Carbon Estimator Tool. "Having worked in the Quincy community, McKinstry is keenly aware of its unique position to help validate and substantiate a 'green' intermodal rail solution," said Peter Locke, McKinstry sustainability consulting director.
