n-3 PUFA may curb kidney injury markers in diabetes

Type 2 diabetes patients with kidney injury who took n-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid supplements showed significant reductions in urine neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin excretion compared with those who took a placebo, a study found. However, n-3 PUFA supplements did not significantly reduce urine albumin excretion in patients, researchers wrote in Diabetes Care.
