Cancer patients often let depression go untreated

A study of 5,000 cancer patients found as many as 8% of patients suffered from depression, but only half had discussed the problem with their health care providers and far fewer -- only 15% of the depressed patients -- were receiving treatment for the depression. An accompanying study found depressed cancer patients benefited from weekly visits with specially trained nurses.
