FDA warns of confusion among similarly named drugs

Errors have occurred between Zyprexa, an antipsychotic drug made by Eli Lilly, and Zyrtec, an antihistamine made by Pfizer used to treat allergies, the FDA said. The agency posted a letter on its Web site warning health care professionals about possible prescribing and dispensing errors among similarly named drugs. Lilly confirmed the errors and said the Zyprexa label would change.
