Miami district fails to meet reform goal; could forfeit millions in capital funds

Because an oversight board found the Miami-Dade district failed to sufficiently reduce school construction costs, the district likely will lose $31.7 million in construction and maintenance money from the state. The Legislature could vote to return the money, but that could prove politically unfeasible because the funds now may be allocated to other school districts.
