NASD levies record fine in conflict-of-interest case

The NASD has fined analyst Charles B. Hintz $220,000, and fined his firm, Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., $350,000 -- the largest penalties the NASD has ever issued for violations of conflict-on-interest rules. Neither Sanford C. Bernstein nor Hintz admitted or denied the accusations and neither party provided comment.
