Insurers' use of job, education data concerns Florida officials

Some Florida officials are concerned that inquiries into a motorist's job and level of education by insurers could lead to discrimination against minorities. Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty says minorities may end up paying high premiums, regardless of their driving records. Insurance industry representatives are expected to testify at a hearing on the issue today. Insurance Information Institute President Robert Hartwig says education and occupation are just two of more than 20 factors insurers consider.
