AGC: Agencies should use discretion with latest executive order

President Barack Obama signed a labor-friendly executive order last week urging federal agencies to require contractors to engage in labor agreements and recognize union wages. Noting that more than 1 million people in the construction industry have become unemployed, Stephen Sandherr, CEO of AGC, said the executive order "has the unfortunate potential to limit contractors' ability to compete for projects." He said the trade group would "strongly encourage officials to exercise the discretion this order provides and avoid government-mandated labor agreements."
