Construction firms in Illinois are eagerly awaiting an economic stimulus package supported by President Barack Obama. The stimulus is expected to include billions in funding for infrastructure projects. A recent Associated General Contractors study found that Illinois' gross state product will grow by $63.1 billion for every $1 billion invested in new infrastructure projects statewide. AGC Chief Executive Stephen Sandherr also noted that the proposed stimulus package could have a sweeping effect across the country and give the U.S. economy an edge for years to come.
