Infrastructure funding will boost Illinois gross product

Construction firms in Illinois are eagerly awaiting an economic stimulus package supported by President Barack Obama. The stimulus is expected to include billions in funding for infrastructure projects. A recent Associated General Contractors study found that Illinois' gross state product will grow by $63.1 billion for every $1 billion invested in new infrastructure projects statewide. AGC Chief Executive Stephen Sandherr also noted that the proposed stimulus package could have a sweeping effect across the country and give the U.S. economy an edge for years to come.
