Loblaw bets on low-cost fashion, cosmetics

Grocer Loblaw entered the clothing business to compete with Wal-Mart Canada, and the chain's Joe Fresh brand has since become Canada's second-largest clothing label, according to NPD Group. Next month, the company will expand into cheap-chic cosmetics. "We're not suffering the setbacks that many other retailers are suffering right now," says Joe Mimran, celebrity designer for Loblaw. "We just have to stick to our game plan. Our game plan has not changed."
