New York City debates artificial turf fields

Artificial turf installed at New York City's parks has sparked controversy after city officials shut down an artificial soccer field in East Harlem because of high lead levels. New York City maintains 95 artificial turf fields at parks across the metropolis, but the City Council will hold a hearing today on a bill that would impose a moratorium on additional artificial turf fields. If the bill passes, the city would replace all artificial turf with grass fields.
