Vilsack: USDA starts talks with EPA to increase ethanol blend rate

USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack said the agency has begun discussing with the Environmental Protection Agency a proposal to increase the amount of ethanol that should be mixed with gasoline, though talk so far hasn't included "specific numbers." Vilsack said it is important to seek new approaches that would help preserve the ethanol sector's infrastructure "because it is a key component" to the new energy future envisioned by President Barack Obama.
