Ethical concerns threaten research using infant blood

Concerns about privacy and parental consent are jeopardizing research using leftover blood taken from infant heelpricks. An Associated Press report said Texas may throw out blood samples from more than 5 million babies to settle a lawsuit, and federal advisers hope the government will issue recommendations on the issue by spring.
