Marriage equality backed by 3 of 4 candidates for R.I. governor

Three of the four major candidates vying to become governor of Rhode Island have said they will make a public pledge to, if elected, sign into law marriage-equality legislation. Two Democrats -- Attorney General Patrick Lynch and General Treasurer Frank Caprio -- and independent Lincoln Chafee say they will support the measure. Republican John Robitaille is opposed to marriage equality but is open to a domestic-partnership system for same-sex couples.
