Mediterranean diet may protect against brain infarcts

A study found that people who follow a Mediterranean-style diet are less likely to suffer strokes or other brain damage linked to cognitive problems in older people. Compared with people who did not adhere to the diet, those who followed it moderately were 21% less likely to have brain damage, while those who followed the diet most closely saw a 36% risk drop.
