U.S. Internet spending increased 3% in fourth quarter

U.S. online spending was up 3% in the fourth quarter to $39 billion, according to recently released data from comScore. Complimentary shipping figured into more than 40% of online sales during the period. Dec. 15 ranked as the busiest day when U.S. online sales reached the highest mark of $913 million, with Amazon.com and Wal-Mart gaining market share of e-commerce sales, according to comScore.
