Chemotherapy during pregnancy appears safe for fetuses

Children born to mothers who received three to four cycles of chemotherapy during pregnancy performed just as well developmentally as other children, a study in The Lancet Oncology found. However, researchers reported that children born prematurely were more likely to have low scores on intelligence and memory tests, suggesting physicians should not induce preterm delivery to allow the start of chemotherapy.
