Telecardiology improving medical care in underserved areas

Telecardiology is helping bring expert consultation to rural areas in the U.S. and elsewhere. The Iowa Heart Center connects with 24 rural sites through the CyberCardiology program, which allows specialists to evaluate heart scans on patients done at remote locations. In work abroad, the American Society of Echocardiography helped bring ultrasound technicians and physicians to remote areas of India, providing point-of-care ultrasound expertise and access to experts via telecardiology.
