Canadian work group to offer alternatives to literacy test

Students in Ontario who fail the 10th-grade literacy test may be given the option of taking an 11th-grade literacy course. Education Minister Elizabeth Witmer will announce "an alternative assessment" to the test in the next two weeks as part of a series of government panel recommendations to help struggling students cope with increased curriculum standards.
