British teachers union opposes field trips due to lawsuit fears

In the U.K., a teachers union has advised its members not to take field trips unless provisions were in place to protect them from litigation, should accidents occur. Noting that mishaps are very rare, a House of Commons education committee is recommending the government reduce the risk-assessment paperwork associated with outings and launches a campaign to promote school trips.
