Fla. commissioner: Workers' comp hike still leaves employers ahead

On April 1, Florida's workers' compensation insurance rates will rise 6.4%, costing the state's employers about $172 million. But state Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty's office says the increase, in combination with an 18.6% rate decrease effective Jan. 1, garnered a net savings of about $438 million.
