Senate stimulus bill provides less education funding

The U.S. Senate was slated today to vote on its version of the economic-stimulus package that contains far less aid for schools than the version approved by the U.S. House. The Senate version eliminates $20 billion in funds to renovate school buildings and halves educational aid to states to $39 billion. Education Secretary Arne Duncan called the proposed $39 billion "not nearly as much as we need."
