McDonald's takes local approach to boost U.K. sales

McDonald's revved up its popularity in Britain by adding a midpriced line of snack items designed to appeal to new customers, including moms with young children. The strategy continues an international plan to make the Golden Arches more attractive by tailoring stores and offerings to local consumers. Other chains, including Starbucks and KFC, are trying out a similar approach.
