Mobile-data traffic soars 72%; YouTube is dominant

Video streaming continued to put heavy pressure on carriers' networks in the second half of 2009 as wireless-data traffic grew 72%, with users spending more time with YouTube than any other site, according to the latest Mobile Trends report from Allot Communications. VoIP traffic rose 44%, not a major bandwidth concern, but a trend that has dented carriers' revenues.
