A teenager in New Zealand was threatened with animal cruelty charges after taking back his puppy from a veterinarian who planned to euthanize the animal, which suffered a broken leg when it was hit by a car. Because the teenager's family was unable to pay for the surgery needed to save the puppy, the veterinarian opted for euthanasia to end the animal's suffering.
