Plan puts beverage calorie counts in front

The Coca-Cola Co. and PepsiCo are among the supporters of a beverage-industry plan to put calorie counts on the fronts of containers by the end of 2012. The move is part of a wider health-awareness initiative promoted by first lady Michelle Obama, and would list total calories for containers 20 ounces or less, and calories per 12-ounce servings for larger packaging. The ABA says the industry is dedicated to bringing beverages with fewer calories to market as well as reducing portion sizes.
