Speculators, short-sellers might face EU crackdown

Michel Barnier, chief of financial markets for the EU, and the region's finance ministers are set to meet next week to discuss speculators and short-sellers. Ahead of the meeting, EU lawmakers are encouraging a crackdown on the trading strategies. Wolfgang Schauble and Christine Lagarde, finance ministers for Germany and France, respectively, are expected to quiz Barnier about speculation and how damaging speculation can be limited.
