UN represents the world in Haiti

The United Nations is playing a central role in coordinating efforts to aid Haiti's recovery from the devastating Jan. 12 earthquake and demonstrates the ability of the world to work together, argues Peter Yeo, vice president of public policy at the United Nations Foundation. "It is in Haiti for the long haul to train Haitians to manage a rebuilt Haiti. This is what the U.N. does best. And it is why the U.N. will be in Haiti well after the country fades from international headlines," Yeo writes.
