U.S. offers to help Iran buy medical isotopes

As the U.S. and other UN Security Council member states discuss the prospect of new sanctions for Iran after its announcement that it would pursue uranium enrichment, the U.S. has proposed a new incentive, pledging to help Iran purchase medical isotopes on the international market. Though the U.S. says Iran's plan to enrich uranium is evidence of its pursuit of a nuclear bomb, Iran claims it requires enriched uranium to fuel a medical research center.
