Wash. wildlife officials to euthanize bighorns suffering from pneumonia

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife will euthanize about 90 bighorns at the Umtanum and Selah Butte herds near the Yakima River that are exhibiting signs of pneumonia to prevent the spread of the disease to neighboring herds. "We have to go out and euthanize animals, which is not something we want to have to do, but it's the best thing we can do for the longevity of the herds," an agency official said.
