Wyoming agency orders slaughter of 13 elk exposed to brucellosis

Thirteen elk confirmed to be exposed to brucellosis in Wyoming were headed for slaughter Tuesday. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will harvest tissue samples from the animals to be used for further studies on the contagious disease. The slaughter is part of the state's program designed to minimize the brucellosis exposure rate in elk herds.
